We had a race! The boys made pudding by shaking milk and pudding mix. The girls made pudding by using a machine. GUESS WHICH GROUP WON? The race proves what we already know: machines make work easier! Also, GIRLS R_________? (Rock?)
One of our reading strategies: We reread to make sure that we understand what we read.
Carthette Burnette came to visit us on Dr. Seuss' Birthday. She read The Lorax.
Carthette Burnette also came into our class for an activity on the day before our winter vacation. She prepared cookie dough for us in different colors. We made cookies using all the different doughs. The cookies baked in a beautiful rainbow of colors and designs. This cooperative learning activity helped our discussion about the differences people have yet work together. We listened to a poem titled "Gossip" written by a six grade student with learning disabilities. The poem made us think about differences and the feelings harsh words can create. We then silently reflected on the activity and the poem in our "Daily Pages" notebook.
Mrs. Sala is an education major at the College of St. Rose. She has been observing our class and providing individual attention and small group instruction. We love her visits!
We have different pets in our classroom. One day we noticed one of our turtles wasn't acting right. Although, we tried, the turtle didn't make it. We still have a frog, fish, a turtle, and a hissing cockeroach.
